Verse 1
My father was a farmer on a hundred acre spread; he still worked in the factory
just to keep his family fed
Mama drove the school bus and somehow raised five kids, Today we stand before
you the result of all they did
The day we laid my dad to rest, folks came from all around,
They filled up the church and stopped the traffic in our town.
I knew that he was special but I was still surprised, I wondered how one simple
man could touch so many lives
Chorus
You don’t have to be a preacher, a singer or a saint
The good Lord uses what you are no matter what you aint
If you want to please the master it’s really not that hard
Walk humbly before your God I said walk humbly before your God
Verse 2
He was no public speaker, no big celebrity; he never held an office or acted
on TV.
But he was there to lend a hand whenever things were bad,
And everyone around us knew that they could count on dad
He was there to fix car or bring some firewood; he never had much money so he
gave the things he could
And even though our own house was never quite complete,
He always found the time to help the neighbor up the street.
Bridge
So if it is your goal to live a life that’s pure and true
Just learn to love God’s children the way that he loved you
And let that love take action when your neighbor needs a hand.
And even though it’s nothing big it’s in the Father’s plan.
